Philip was the son of Samual and Ruth of the Gables Aberford.
Philip passed away from a desease possibly caught whilst a prisoner of war as Hamburg was the main burial ground for prisoners.

William was the brother of Philip (Details Above) who also gave his life.
In 1901 William was a Joiners Apprentice possibly for his father Samuel who was the local undertaker.
William had originally joined the Royal Engineers having the service number 177173.
William passed away from an illness out in the field possibly the Spanish Flu that was sweeping the trenches at the time.
Indeed as many if not more men passed away from this Bird Flu as we call it now than gave their lives fighting.

The CWGC site shows his mums name as Ada and at the time William passed away they were living on Kirgate in Sherburn in Elmet.
William drowned after three ships Creesy Hogue and the Hawke were attacked by a U boat off the coast of Holland.

The CWGC shows Sydneys service number as 12982! and when he gave his life from wounds recieved in action the family were living at the Crescent in Micklefield.

William was the son of Frederic Born Harrogate 1860 and Clara Agnes Allison Born Leeds 1861 who married in the Wetherby District in 1880.
William also had brothers Jarvis A. Born 1888- Joseph 1892 and Charles 1901 and sisters Sarah E 1882-Agnes E 1883- Martha E 1885-Jane L 1898 and Clara S -Alice M both born 1900 all in East Keswick.
In 1901 the family were living at No 10 Main Street aberford next door to the Rose and Crown public house, Frederic the father was a Grocery Store manager.
William left for France in October 1914 working at Number 7 Casualty Clearing Station with the Royal Army Medical Corps before before being transferred to the KOYLI.
William lies where he fell to this day and is remembered on the Thiepval Memorial to the missing.

Joseph had a brother Dennis Born in Barwick in Elmet in 1900 i believe Dennis also gave his life in 1918 with the Durham Light Infantry and was a resident of Cross Gates when he gave his life.
Joseph also had a sister Freda born in Barwick in 1898.
Joseph was a cousin of the above mentioned Wilson brothers.
