Arthur was the son of Thomas James Born Morville Shropshire 1871 and Alice Georgina Ebbut Born Croydon Surrey 1870. They married in 1893 at Epsom Surrey.
Thomas and Alice had another son called Bertrand Charles Born Dewsbury 1900.

Frederick was the son of James an agriculteral labourer and later a brewery worker Born Stradbrok Suffolk 1862 and Sarah Elizabeth Fowler Born Grimston Cottage Tadcaster 1866.
They married at St Georges Church Leeds 1885 now St Georges Crypt a shelter for the homeless at the rear of Leeds Town Hall.
James and Sarah also had a son Arthur (Mentioned above) a clerk in one of the local Tadcaster breweries Born Grimston Cottage Tadcaster 1886
and daughters Lilian Born Tadcaster 1895 and Elsie Born Tadcaster 1899.
In 1913 at Knaresborough Frederick married Mary Ann Fryer Born Knaresbrough 1886 and at the time he gave his life Mary lived in Old Scriven a district of Knaresbrough.

John Allen was an Ironmonger in the 1912 Kellys Directory of Tadcaster.

Harry was the son of Francis Edwin like his father Baker a Cooper by trade Born Market Weighton 1852 and Ann Milner Born Pocklington 1850. Francis and Ann had another son Fred Born Market Weighton in 1876 and Five daughters.
In 1901 Harry was working as a Coopers Apprentice and his father was the Coopers Foreman at John Smiths Brewery in Tadcaster the family lived at No 4 Fairfield Tadcaster.
In 1907 Harry married Edith Blanchard in Tadcaster and the family lived in Victoria Terrace Tadcaster when Harry lost his life.
The 1st Battalion West Yorkshires were part of the regular army and were called to arms in August 1914. The Battalion took part in the 1st Battle for Aisnes between September 13th and the 20th.
This was the start of trench warfare and the number of men who gave their lives sent shockwaves through the nation. (13.000 men gave their lives in this battle.)
Harry Appleby gave his life fighting for possesion of the Aisne Heights.

Son of George Robert Born Saxton 1835 and Bridget Healey Born Ireland 1838 they married in Lambeth London 1857.
John had brothers James William Born Tadcaster 1864 and Herbert Born Towton 1885 and a sister Charlotte Born Bramham 1899.
John originally enlisted into the Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry having the service number 27905.

Below can be found an article describing the heroics of the Atkinson family from Tadcaster four of whom were employed by John Smiths Brewery.
The piece gives details of four out of five brothers, was the fifth brother Richardson Atkinson.

There are so many George Atkinsons who gave their lives it is difficult to find which record belongs to the above.
However a newspaper piece from 1916 describes a George Atkinson a sailor not related to the above Atkinsons.
It is very possible he passed away after the war and as a result is not mentioned on the CWGC website.

James was born 1889 the son of James Born Church Fenton 1854 and Ellen Foley Born Sherburn in Elmet in 1854, they married at Tadcaster in 1877.

Richardson is recorded on the Those who Died records as being born in Tadcaster more research needed can you help.
On visiting Richardsons grave site the CWGC gave details of his wife and family in Tadcaster,
however i unfortunatly did not make a note and the details are not in the CWGC website.
