CORPORAL HENRY YATES CUNDALL.

                

SERVICE NUMBER: 300885.  UNIT/REGIMENT: 16th Mountain Bty. Royal Garrison Artillery.

BORN: Tadcaster. ENLISTED: Scarborough. GAVE HIS LIFE: 31/10/1918. AGED: 28.

CEMETERY:  Ramleh War Cemetery Isreal.  GRAVE:  EE. 21.

LOCAL MEMORIAL: Appleton Roebuck.

Henry was the son of  Joseph born Appleton Roebuck near York in 1849  and  Mary Halley Wheatley Born Appleton Roebuck  in 1850, Died 27/01/1893. 

Joseph married again in December 1895 to Grace Isabel (surname unknown) Grace Died aged 87 on the 13/02/1945

In 1891 the family were living in at Whingate Hill, Tadcaster and Henrys father was a farmer. In 1901 Henry was at a Boarding school with his brother Peter at Woodhouse Grove Rawdon near Yeadon Leeds.

The family are buried in Tadcaster Cemetery and Henry is remembered on the gravestone, it gives details of Henrys final resting place in Palestine.

Henry lies at peace at the Ramleh War Cemetery the following photograph was kindly donated by Gal Shaine of "Rishon Letsion (also written Rishon Lezion) Israel.

A minute silence was held by representatives of the Armed Forces from different Commonwealth countrys on the 11th November 2005.
