Charles was the son of Samuel and Kate Harris married at Newcastle Upon Tyne in 1891 who resided at 29 Morritt Drive Halton Leeds when Charles gave his life.

Son of John Buckle who had been the stationmaster at Church Fenton station and Francis Mary.
John was educated at the Higher Grade school in York and when he enlisted on the 07 September 1914 was in the employment of a Concillor W.Lee of Selby.
When he passed away both his Captain and his Sergeant Major wrote praising John.

"I was very sorry to lose him, as i have known him for some time now and was able to appreciate his soldierly qualities. He is buried in our little Cemetery, and we are having a cross put over his grave"

"He was a member of my platoon during the whole of his service,so that i am in a position to judge and desire to testify to his sterling qualities as a soldier.
This together with his great dispositioon, won him the respect of all whom he came in contact"

Fred was the son of Henry and Emily Conning married at South Otterington in 1872.
Fred had sisters Florance, Kate and Lillian. and two brothers Walter and John Thomas who gave his life on the 05/10/1918 with the Durham Light Infantry.

The son of James and Elizabeth Denton, Dans mum Elizabeth was living in Church Fenton when he gave his life.
Dan joined up into the first world war on 10th of December 1915 on his papers he explained his next of kin was James who was residing in Harrogate North Yorkshire.
And that he was working as a labourer and he was already in the 104th presumably a terratorial brigade.
Dan was described as being 5ft 6 and a half inches with a chest size of 36 and a half inch with brown eyes a medium complexion and a mole on his right shoulder blade.

Fred is shown in the CWGC record as the son of William and Zillah, husband of Mary Louisa of Scarthingwell Lodge Lancaster !
Scarthingwell Lodge is less than a mile from Barkston Village not Lancaster !
William was Fred's father, however the 1901 census shows Fred's mum as Susannah with a sister called Zillah born 1894.
His mum Susannah passed away with her baby Clifford aged 39 in 1903 whilst giving birth.
In the "Soldiers Died" database Freds surname is spelled Whittington! I cannot find Fred marrying a Mary Louisa

Tom was the son of Thomas Born York 1858, and Mary Born Scotland 1862.
Tom was the eldest son having brothers Harry Born Lumby 1895 and Donald Bruce Born Church Fenton 1900.
Tom had sisters Carolina Emily Born York 1881, Mary Eleanor Born York 1883, Alice Born York 1885, Edith Agnes Born York 1887, Ethel Born Lumby 1891 and Jessie Born Lumby 1893.
In 1901 the Family were living at the Railway Hotel Church Fenton where Thomas was the Landlord.
In 1916 the Yorkshire Herald ran a piece on the village of Church Fenton and Tom was mentioined in that piece as
" Tom Wilkinson a Gunner Liverpool Scottish giving his life early in the war".
