  NEWTON KYME  / TOULSTON.

Newton Kyme is a small village 1.5 miles from Tadcaster on the A659 road towards Boston Spa.

Nearby is the River Wharfe where the Roman ruins of St Helens are situated and many Roman artifacts were found in this area during the mid 1800's.

In 1914 Newton Kyme had its own railway station which was on the Church Fenton to Harrogate line and the chief employment was agriculteral work.

Toulston  ( 2.5 miles from Tadcaster ) formed part of the same parish as Newton Kyme and as a result this page is dedicated to those men who had connections to both villages.

There is no WW1 memorial in the village although there is a plaque remembering Francis James Ongley Lamb in St Andrews Church.

Many of the men were remembered on the memorials in Boston Spa or Tadcaster where it could be forgotten that they had a link to these villages, hence they are placed on this page.

NEWTON KYME POSTCARD 1914
